Session Title: The New Reality for a Globally Mobile Workforce
Session Overview: The nature of the global mobility landscape is rapidly shifting. Not only is global mobility increasing significantly but the very nature of how we live and work is also changing. What is the current picture of this ever-shifting world of work that is influencing the relocation landscape and setting the agenda for global mobility practices and policies for the future?
This session will:
- Discuss ongoing demographic shifts as drivers for change (i.e. dual-career couples, non-traditional families/accompanying partners/LGBT).
- Provide best practices that attract and retain a higher quality talent pool, as well as boost the acceptance and success rates of global assignments.
- Explore how organizations are proactively adapting their global mobility practices to win the bid for top Generation Y talent.
- Share preliminary findings from their 2017 NetExpat/E&Y survey reflecting the most current Talent Mobility trends.

Alain Verstandig – President NetExpat Group
Alain Verstandig, President of the NET EXPAT Group, is an engineer who has passionately embraced International Mobility and Talent Management through personal experience. He currently lives in the USA but was born in 1962 in Brussels, Belgium to a French mother and a German father.
He graduated with an Engineering degree, later supplemented by an MBA. Right after graduating, he travelled the world in an amazing 18-month backpacking adventure through more than 50 countries. Alain then worked over ten years for multinational corporations in various senior positions where he acquired first-hand knowledge of international mobility, being expatriated himself on several occasions. Alain speaks five languages.
In 1998, Alain founded the NET EXPAT Group specializing in assessing, training and coaching for expatriates and their partners. Through its unique, innovative approaches, NET EXPAT soon became a global market leader, with offices in 71 countries around the world and a loyal customer base of more than 400 international corporations.
Cecilia Franchi – Senior Director, Advisory Services Americas NetExpat Group
Cecilia Franchi has over 20 years of international human resource, relocation, compliance, consulting, and strategic advisory experience in Global Mobility and Talent Management. Originally from Brazil, she holds dual citizenship with the USA and currently resides in the greater New York City area.
Cecilia earned a bachelor’s degree in International Economics from the University of Connecticut. She is fluent in English, Portuguese and French, and conversant in Spanish and Italian.
Her background includes driving complex, multi-regional projects for Cartus and MSI, as well as serving in several management positions with Deloitte, managing their strategic Global Development and International Desk Programs for the Americas. In addition, she has worked extensively abroad in European HR management for Dow Chemical Europe based in Sophia Antipolis, France, and global account management in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
She currently works at NetExpat as Senior Director, Advisory Services Americas, supporting companies with the benchmark, design and implementation of strategic policy benefits around career and life transition services for expatriates and their partners.
